As the countdown begins for this year’s Kent Vision LIVE on Wednesday 16th May 2018, we are delighted to announce that the day will get off to an exciting start with some exclusive insights from Steph McGovern, one of the UK’s most respected broadcasters and commentators on business, finance and current affairs.
Steph will provide a fascinating overview of the UK business landscape from a national and international perspective, covering the very latest progress on the Brexit negotiations and the most likely business impacts to have emerged so far.
For more than a decade Steph McGovern has reported on business, finance and current affairs from around the world; covering everything from international summits to small business success stories. She is an established member of the BBC Breakfast team, covering daily business developments and regularly taking to the studio sofa as a main co-host for the programme.
During the financial crash of 2008, Steph was the lead producer of the BBC’s financial news, working with Robert Peston at the forefront of the award-winning coverage of the banking crisis and credit crunch. Steph soon began broadcasting herself and went on to present on Radio 4, 5Live and the Chris Evans show on Radio 2.
On BBC Breakfast, Steph’s role includes face-to-face interviews with many of those on the frontline of British business. Speaking with a huge range of people from factory workers to CEOs of FTSE 100 companies, Steph is on a mission is to uncover and explain what’s really going on behind the economic headlines.
Aiming to bring business into the wider public consciousness, Steph launched her own children’s TV show looking for the next generation of entrepreneurs – in the form of CBBC’s Pocket Money Pitch – and she is also the co-host of BBC1’s prime time show: Shop Well For Less.
Off-screen, Steph is actively involved in BBC community projects such as BBC Outreach and BBC School Report. She is a mentor for young people in her native Teesside and regularly runs workshops for schoolchildren around the North East. As a former champion Irish dancer, Steph still keeps her foot in by coaching and attending international competitions.
Rich Tribe, joint MD of Kent Vision LIVE’s organisers, Revolution Events, commented: “We are delighted that this year’s event will be opened by yet another leading light from the media world. With Brexit looming large and a minority government in place, economic conditions have rarely been as unpredictable as they are right now – so the ‘big picture’ perspective that Steph can offer will be a huge benefit to companies preparing to weather an inevitable period of volatility in the business world.”
