Kent Vision LIVE are delighted to announce that the inaugural, Brexit focused, Big Business Lunch will be sponsored by award-winning law firm Brachers LLP and leading business adviser Grant Thornton.
On Wednesday 10th May, the Big Brexit Lunch will bring together over 100 guests from the county’s largest and fastest-growing companies, to discuss and debate the most likely business risks and opportunities presented by Brexit over a special VIP lunch at this year’s Kent Vision LIVE.
Sponsored by Brachers LLP and Grant Thornton, The guest list will also include key influencers and policy makers from across the county, to provide a broad range of views and an unmissable chance to network.
What will Brexit mean for Kent businesses?
Official trade figures show that the UK’s buoyant service sector has helped the economy to grow faster than expected in the aftermath of the shock Brexit vote.
So were the pessimists wrong?
Whichever sector you operate in – Services, Manufacturing or the Digital Economy – the UK’s exit from the EU will have a significant impact. For exporters, the falling value of Sterling may result in a net gain. While for others the consequences could be catastrophic.
What is clear is that certainty will be a rare commodity over the next 18-24 months. Yet forward-thinking companies still need to plan for the most likely scenarios, using the best information they can access – or risk getting caught out by unanticipated disruption and missed opportunities.
To help inform that planning, the Big Brexit Lunch will present a panel of industry experts with a wealth of experience and different perspectives, to offer fresh insights into this major economic shift.
No business likes surprises…
To set the scene for the debate, the Institute of Director’s Chief Economist James Sproule will summarise the latest thinking on Brexit and the Brexit process: including the known facts and some of the key assumptions that can reasonably flow from these.
Together with four expert panellists, lunch guests can then join the debate and ask specific questions as the panel discusses the opportunities and threats that are most likely to emerge – all whilst enjoying a complimentary lunch and refreshments.
Commenting on the event, Erol Huseyin, partner at Brachers, said: “This promises to be a fascinating debate which I hope will help businesses in Kent clarify their thinking about what Brexit really means for them. As a firm, we’re committed to supporting local businesses and helping them grow so we’re delighted to be taking part in this key event and highlighting some of the issues that companies have to consider.”
Ellen Walsh, Practice Leader for Grant Thornton UK LLP’s Gatwick office, added: “As a leading business advisor, we are seeking to stimulate ideas and actions that can create vibrant regional economies – ones which realise the shared potential of businesses, cities, people and communities. I am therefore delighted to have the opportunity to discuss the business impacts and opportunities presented by Brexit with Kent businesses here today.”
